COACHES

All Surf Skool coaches are surfers themselves and are passionate about the sport.

Our Team of coaches boast an array of Surfing and Fitness Qualifications as well as a history of competitive surfing, event management and school sports programs.

Our coaches hold either a minimum of Level 1 Surfing NSW or equivalent accreditation which includes senior first aid,
cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and bronze medallion certification, as well as an Ocean Lifeguard Certification.

All coaches are “Working with Children Checked” with the Department of Sport and Recreation Surf Skool is run by fully qualified personal trainers and group fitness specialists so our coaches are also actively involved with the fitness industry.

All equipment is provided on the day. Our soft boards are safe and easy to learn on. We provide wetsuits; rash shirts and UV Protection sun cream.

Refreshments and merchandise can be purchased both online or from the coaches on your surfing day.

Surfing is an outdoor recreation activity and we remind you there are certain risks involved in a such an activity thus we reiterate that you participate in our classes solely at your own risk and liability.

OUR TEAM

Matt Anderson
After a lifetime of recreational surfing, competitive surf life saving and loving the beach, personal trainer and fitness coach, Matt Anderson, decided to share his passion for surfing by creating a personalised, fun and effective way to learn to surf.

Matt is a fitness industry leader, he runs a team of 13 outdoor trainers, a boutique studio gym and is actively involved in corporate team building and life coaching.

Mark Costa
Known as The Surfing Sherpa, Mark has been leading people to the surf all & up & down the East Coast of Australia for many years. Mark also takes surfing tours to the Maldives & Samoa in the peak surfing seasons.

The Sherpa lives & breathes surfing lessons, surfing adventures & the true essence of surfing – Soul Surfing. Mark also looks after our surfboard hire division, as well as working in one of our affiliated surf shops.

Ananda Veras
Originally from Brazil - now a Northern Beaches local, Ananda lives and breathes surfing, sport, health & fitness.

Ananda has a degree in Physical Educations coupled with personal training, pilates and surfing qualifications, she is an asset to both our surfing & fitness team.

Known for taking the odd "surfing weekend away" Ananda has been working with one of Australia's leading surf camp & adventure businesses for the past year or so, now Ananda is focusing on a more private & personal approach to surf coaching and Personal Fitness Training.

Ananda is our Freshwater Beach surf coach and is here to get you surfing faster....

Glenn Brown
Born and raised in Shell Harbour , Glenn has been a personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor since moving to Sydney in 2003.

Being Matt's daily surfing buddy in between Personal Training duties, it was only a natural progression Glenn would join team Surf Skool and with 3 kids of his own, Glenn is our resident kid and big kid Instructor.
